Avoiding hemorrhoids

pregnancy symptoms

Go to the bathroom whenever you need to, but don’t hang around in there.

Hemorrhoids are among the most-hated pregnancy symptoms and for this reason we know everyone is looking for any means of avoiding them. Luckily, we’ve got a few hints and tips that should definitely help you to lower your risk of getting hemorrhoids.

  • Avoid constipation at all costs. There’s a whole other list for how to do that right here.
  • Be smart in the bathroom. Don’t hold any bowel movement in, don’t strain and don’t hang around. We know that sometimes a bathroom break can be a welcomed rest from the rest of the world, but sitting on the toilet for longer than you have to puts extra pressure on your blood vessels, so it’s really not worth it.
  • Do your kegels. You’re sick of hearing about these, we know, but honestly they are the best thing you can do to prepare for labour and avoid hemorrhoids.
  • Do not sit or stand for long periods of time. Get up and walk around or lay down for a rest to keep the blood flowing and release the pressure respectively.
