How to tell if your fallopian tubes are blocked

How do I tell if my fallopian tubes are blocked?

If you have noticed that you are having difficulty conceiving then the first thing you should do is visit your physician to discuss the matter.

  • Your doctor will need to know your medical history, especially with respect to any STD’s, endometriosis or pelvic inflammatory that you have suffered from.
  • You will then have to undergo a hysterosalpingogram. An hysterosalpingogram is a x-ray that uses a contrast dye. The dye is inserted into your uterus using a catheter and if the dye is unable to travel through your fallopian tubes you will be able to identify where the blockage is on the x-ray.
  • Another option you have is to undergo a hysteroscopy. During a hysteroscopy, a tiny telescope is inserted into your cervix which can identify if you have any signs of blockage or scarring in your fallopian tubes.
