Paper bats as seen on our Halloween Excitement Pinterest board

What you need:

  • A print-out of the bat diagram below
  • Black craft paper
  • Red paint or permanent marker
  • Sticks (which you can find in your back garden or local park)
  • Glass bottles and jars (if you wish)
  • Glitter (if you wish)
  • Scissors
  • Glue (a glue gun or crazy glue is best)

Method:

1. Print off the bat diagram below or draw your own to use as a stencil.

2. Cut your black construction paper into the shape of bats using the stencil. To save time and if you have a sharp pair of scissors you can stack and cut several pieces of construction paper at one time.

3. Using red paint or a red permanent marker give your bats some spooktacular eyes. You can also apply some glitter to give your bats an extra touch using white glue to stick the glitter on.

4. Your bats are now ready and using your glue gun or crazy glue you can stick them to the sticks you have collected. Or you could stick them on to your walls using glu-tac or hang them from the ceiling and light fixtures using clear fishing line. It’s completely up to you!

5. If you have stuck your bats to sticks you can now either place them in glass bottles around your home or along the walk up to your front door.

These bat decorations are cheap, easy, diverse and also fun to make. You should find everything you need in your local craft store.
