Pumpkin bundt cake

Ingredients:

  • 2 batches of basic bundt cake
  • Frosting
  • Green and orange food colouring
  • Fruit jam/jelly of your choice, nutella or peanut butter
  • One whole ice-cream cone
  • Candy corn for decoration

Method:

1. Prepare 2 batches of basic bundt cake, adding spices, cocoa, fruits and/or nuts as you like.

2. Once both bundt cakes are fully cooled, place one upside down on a cake platter. If the bottom of the cake is not smooth, use a sharp knife to level it out.

3. Spread a fruit jam, nutella or peanut butter on the surface of the upside down bundt cake and place the second bundt cake on top of it the right way up, making sure the molds line up (see image). Don’t forget to smooth out the bottom of second bundt cake beforehand if it is not already smooth.

4. It’s frosting time! Prepare your frosting using our basic buttercream frosting recipe or another one of your choice. Divide it into two portions and add green food colouring to the smaller of the two portions and orange food colouring to the larger portion.

5. You can either frost your cake with the orange frosting as it appears in the above image or you can cover the whole pumpkin bundt cake in orange frosting, it’s your choice. Then place an upside-down whole ice-cream cone in the centre of the cake to act as the stem of the pumpkin and decorate it with green frosting.

6. Use candy corn and other Halloween candies to decorate the cake or platter if you wish.
