18 weeks pregnant: your baby

week 18

Your baby at 18 weeks of pregnancy

It’s your eighteenth week of pregnancy and your baby is starting to look very human! Your baby is about 5 ½ inches or 14 cm long and probably weighs in at a whopping 5 ¼ ounces or 150 grams.

This week your baby is probably moving around a lot as she tests out all of her limbs, but some babies are a bit more laid back and only move every once in awhile. So don’t worry if you don’t feel your baby too much, especially if it’s your first pregnancy. Some mothers with very energetic babies may even say you’re lucky, because a baby can be surprisingly strong at times. Your baby is not only moving about, but also yawning and hiccupping already and her little finger and toe prints are also forming this week.

Now remember your baby still depends on you and the placenta for blood, oxygen and nutrients so make sure you’re still following a healthy diet and exercise plan for you and your baby’s health.

Did you know…Your baby ‘eats’ 2 hours after you do. It’s important to keep that in mind when scheduling dinner or your baby’s hiccups may keep you up at night?

What’s happening to your body this week?
