23 weeks pregnant: your baby

week 23

Your baby at week 23 of pregnancy

By the twenty-third week of pregnancy your baby should have hit the 1 pound mark and measure about 8 in./20 cm. long, however this may be different for some babies, especially those who are part of a multiple birth.

Your baby’s lanugo is probably darker this week and her skin is probably a reddish colour and still quite transparent. However, that will soon change as your baby is about to start gaining weight rapidly, so much so that some weeks you may see her weight double. As your baby’s weight increases so will yours, but don’t worry once you’re following a healthy diet and exercise plan you are at no risk of doubling your weight.

What’s happening to your body this week?
