31 weeks pregnant: your baby

week 31

Your baby at 31 weeks of pregnancy

In the thirty-first week of pregnancy your baby weighs about 3 ⅓ lbs./1.5 kg. and is 16 in./41 cm. long. That’s a big difference in just one week.

Your baby’s nerve connections are maturing this week and his brain is developing in leaps and bounds, he’ll soon be reading! Though that’s probably getting a few years ahead of ourselves. Also, your baby has more distinctive sleep and wake cycles, you can probably tell when he’s awake or sleeping by the amount of activity happening in your womb at any given time.

Did you know…while in the womb, some babies develop such an intense thumb sucking habit that they are born with callouses on their thumbs?

What’s happening to your body this week?
