33 weeks pregnant: your baby

week 33

Your baby at 33 weeks of pregnancy

In the thirty-third week of pregnancy your baby weighs 4 ¼ lbs./1.9 kg and measures about 17 ¼ in./44 cm. from head to toe.

As you can tell your baby is growing quickly, but there is only so much room in your womb which means there isn’t as much amniotic fluid in there anymore. This won’t be a problem for your baby, but since the amniotic fluid previously acted as a buffer between you and your baby it does mean you’ll feel his movements a lot more.

Your baby’s immune system has also started to strengthen and to receive some important antibodies from you so that after birth he will be able to fight off infections.
