9 weeks pregnant: your baby

week 9

Your baby at 9 weeks of pregnancy

In the ninth week of pregnancy your baby is about the size of a green olive, but he certainly doesn’t look like one. In fact, your baby looks a little more human than before and a lot less like the frog spawn he has resembled since week 5, but your baby still has a long way to go before birth.

Did you know…your baby’s pancreas may already start creating insulin this week which means by week 12 insulin will be present in his blood?

Do you remember those eyelids which began to take shape in week 6? Well this week they almost completely cover your baby’s eyes, which now have pupils. But that’s not all that has been happening this week. Your baby’s neck and ears are developing and will soon be fully formed and his muscles are getting a bit stronger. In no time at all you’ll be able to feel your baby kicking!

What’s happening to your body this week?
