Gravy recipe

  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup of flour
  • 1 clove of minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup of ketchup
  • 1 tsp of Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 quart of cold beef broth
  • salt and black pepper to taste


1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over a medium-low heat.

2. Add the flour and cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly until the mixture is golden-brown.

3. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

4. Whisk in a cup of the cold beef broth and then add the rest of the ingredients, except the salt and pepper.

5. Bring to a simmer, whisking as you do so, and then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6. Taste, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
