Pica cravings
If you’re craving chalk it means you have a pica craving.
Pica cravings are a very interesting type of pregnancy craving. When a pregnant woman has a pica craving it means she is craving unusual cravings for non-food substances. These substances include: paint chips, chalk, coal and laundry detergent to name a few.
Pica cravings are one pregnancy craving you should NEVER indulge as these substances are harmful to both you and your baby. Most healthcare providers agree that pica cravings are an indication of a severe iron deficiency, so if you’re suffering from pica cravings we recommend speaking to your doctor as soon as possible.
