Spider web cake
Ingredients:
- Basic bundt cake (in a regular cake pan)
- Buttercream frosting
- Black plastic spider
Method:
1. Prepare a basic bundt cake, but rather than baking it in a bundt pan, bake it in a regular round cake tin. We think a chocolate cake would make this a sinful delight.
2. Once the cake is fully cool, place it upside-down on a cake platter.
3. Prepare the buttercream frosting, adding 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder to make a chocolate buttercream frosting. Before doing this set aside a small bit of the white buttercream frosting to use to create the web design.
4. Spread the chocolate buttercream frosting smoothly all over the cake.
5. Using a fine nozzled icing bag or pump, draw 5-6 concentric circles of white frosting on the surface of the cake.
6. Take a toothpick or cocktail stick and lightly pull it from the centre of the cake to the outer edges in order to give the white circles a web effect.
7. Place the plastic spider on top to finish off the haunted look.
