30 weeks pregnant: your baby

week 30

Your baby at 30 weeks of pregnancy

In the thirtieth week of pregnancy your baby is hitting the scales at 3 lbs./1.3 kg and is approximately 15 ¾ in./40 cm. long.

This week your baby’s brain has developed enough that she is able to regulate her own body temperature, which means she will begin to shed her lanugo from this week. And of course, she is still packing on those pounds as she continues to grow.

A knot in your baby’s umbilical cord may be identified this week. It is usually caused by your baby’s movements during an earlier stage of your pregnancy, but it is nothing to worry about as it shouldn’t interfere with her nutrient supply.

What’s happening to your body this week?
