Apple cider
PREP TIME 15 min
COOK TIME 3 hours
MAKES ½ gallon
Ingredients
- 8-10 apples
- ½ to 1 cup of sugar
- 4 tablespoons of cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons of allspice
Directions
1. Quarter the apples. (You do not have to remove the seeds or peel).
2. Put the apples and sugar in a large pot and fill itwith water, just enough to cover the apples.
3. Wrap the cinnamon and allspice in a doubled up cheese cloth and tie and add to the apples and water.
4. Boil on high heat for 1 hour.
5. Turn the heat down and let it simmer for 2 hours.
6. Remove from heat and leave to cool.
7. Remove the spices and mash the apples to a pulp-like consistency.
8. When cool, pour over a strainer.
9. Put the pulp into a doubled up cheese cloth and squeeze to get the rest of the juice out.
10. You can heat and reheat to enjoy.
